Elton John’s 1975 studio album Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy will be released as an SDE exclusive blu-ray audio in October, and includes an immersive Dolby Atmos Mix.
His ninth record in six years, ‘Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy’ was a concept album devised with Elton’s longtime collaborator and lyricist Bernie Taupin, telling the chronological story of the early years of Elton ('Captain Fantastic') and Bernie’s ('the Brown Dirt Cowboy') musical careers in London as they struggled to break through.
Produced by Gus Dudgeon, it features the single “Someone Saved My Life Tonight” and was the first album in history to debut at #1 on the US Billboard 200. It sold 1.4 million copies in its first four days and remained at the top of the chart for 7 weeks.
Greg Penny has created brand new Dolby Atmos and 5.1 mixes of ‘Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy’ which feature on the blu-ray alongside the original album and 17 bonus tracks, in stereo.
